GROW SERIES 1 - ORIENTATION THIS SAT
David & Deanna Fullerton reprise their role again as our lead instructors for Grow Series 1 (formerly EL1). They will be hosting their new students in an orientation this SAT, JAN 4th at CLC.

JOURNEY ORIENTATION THIS SUN
Dale Kelsey & Christy Sanford, our DC captains, will host the new mentee orientation this SUN, JAN 5, from 9-10:30am at the CLC house.

NEW DCS  / INTERNS ORIENTATION
Dale & Christy will also be meeting face-to-face with the new launching coaches / interns and conducting a DC Nuts & Bolts Workshop with them. Welcome aboard our new coaching staff for Winter 2014:

FREEDOM WEEKEND ORIENTATION - THIS SUN
We have 40 men at this writing enrolled in the Men's FW slated for JAN 10-12. Our FW leadership team will conduct an orientation at the CLC house this SUN, JAN 5, from 11-12:30pm.

WOMEN'S FW - JAN 17-19

TRIMESTER GOALS WORKSHEET
Every trimester we ask every Journey Discipleship Program student to complete this worksheet and write down goals for the next 90 days. This is an invaluable tool to our coaches! Coaches, please, ensure that every student submits this form to you by week 2 of the trimester. Click here to view (and print) the form.

Just today I added direct access to the Men's FW "Virtual Boot Camp" and the Women's Freedom Weekend "Prep Devos" for you to enjoy from your mobile device. Be sure to check the "stay logged in" box so you only have to login in once. The user ID (menfw or womenfw) and password (freedom) is posted right in the app sub-title.

Headline News - 12/16/13

Hey Journey Student Body - Blessings, favor, grace, mercy, and great joy to you this holiday. I want you to be as blessed as a person can be blessed by the Lord. A few things on the week before Christmas.

CONNECTION OP
This WED is Seeker Night at CLC! You know what that means! God's will and timing will intersect (like "X" marks the spot on a treasure map) and you and your Journey group can get caught in the cross hairs of God's outpouring. Here's a thought - if you are a in a discipleship group, why not reach out and touch your group and invite them to attend the Seeker Night with you and then run by Dairy Queen for a quick cone afterwards? You don't have to be the discipleship to do this, you know.

HELP US BUILD THE DISCIPLESHIP COACHING GROUPS
We need your help. We have room for 24 people in coaching groups but so far less than 10 signed up. Who do you know at CLC who would benefit from a year with a spiritual mentor? Would you be willing to talk to him or her for us? Would you please email me their names at journey@clctn.org so I can have our captains follow up?

TWO JOURNEY GROUPS AT ONCE?
One of our discipleship coaches emailed me about two of her mentees joining a focus group. Her legitimate question was is it OK for them to do this? I am pasting my response to her to you that others might know how best to respond if this is your situation as well.

Hey _______– We highly discourage any Journey student to sign up for other groups. Having said that, we approach this not as a hard fast rule but on a case by case basis. Any time this occurs as it has with 2 of your girls, I would like for you to have a conversation with them and get their assurance that they will give focused energy with their limited time resources to the Journey first and foremost. If they have margin in their life to sustain a focus group like BB Money and the extra work that this will require them to do at home, I have no problem with it at all.

So, tell them this is highly irregular and discouraged but we will make an exception for them if they can guarantee that their Journey Discipleship Program commitment will not suffer. - David

Have you downloaded our beta CLC App yet? Search on your mobile device in the app store for Christian Life Church. I'm still working out the bugs and artwork issues so it will get better! I would love for some of you to post  your feedback right here in the comments section on this blog. The entire Journey curriculum is uploaded in audio format and is a quick button push away so you can do the Journey anytime, anywhere from your mobile device.

NEW NAMES FOR EL1, EL2, EL3
New for 2014! We have changed the names of our leadership pathway for Journey leaders as follows:

• Emerging Leaders 1 is now "Growing the Leader Within You"
• Emerging Leaders 2 is now "Growing into a Person of Influence"
• Emerging Leaders 3 is not "Growing the Leaders Around You" (that one is pending)

If you are a Journey coach who has just graduated, please make sure your grads make their next connection into the 1st tier of leadership training or some other opportunity. We don't want them to fall between the cracks after a year of discipleship with you.

NO SERVICE THIS WED NIGHT - DEC 11
Just a reminder for you to stay home and have fun with your family this WED night. There is a Logos Training Camp in progress M-T-W for pastors, missionaries, Bible college professors, and others who want to learn how to use Logos Bible study software.

CONGRATULATIONS JASON FORD
Jason not only completed one year of discipleship coaching last NOV but this SAT will graduate from MTSU earning a Bachelor's Degree! Be sure to give him an attaboy for this HUGE milestone the next time you see him.

There are still many spots left in our groups. I want to encourage you to go after people in our church who you feel would benefit from being in your group this JAN. Call them, text them, or email them to invite them. Catch them at church and personally invite them. You would be surprised how people respond to a personal invitation. To make things super easy, email them the EZ Sign Up form where they are just one click and 5 minutes or less away from enrolling in a Journey group of their choice.

CLC APP BETA RELEASED
Still a work in progress but I wanted you to feel free to download the app and watch it develop. Most of the app is fully functional now - the aesthetics, artwork, and the interface with our home web pages have issues we are working through.

I had a pastor give me a book to read but frankly I have too many books in the queue to read ahead of this Christian fictional story that his son, also a pastor, wrote and is not yet released. It's called "Sheriff Adonai - The Gift of the Stranger's Necklace." I am looking for someone who would enjoy reading this 238-page book and providing a review on it.
