Quotable Quotes:
Todd Hooper - "The Journey is the best program I've ever been a part of for encouraging men to look at their spiritual lives in a realistic way & to encourage and equip them to grow spiritually."
Rebekah Streich - "Growth. To see how the women in our group have grown even an inch was a great example of how the Journey works and how Christ transforms your life."
Amy Ford - "You might have an amazing Journey experience; you might have an okay one. But whatever happens, you will learn something - you will grow."
Kacey Randolph - "What an honor it is to serve and have a front row seat to see God change lives. It's amazing what can be done when you walk with intention!"
MEN'S CONNECTION BREAKFAST
David Fullerton & the 33 Series focus group (led by Chris Joiner) hosted the Men's Connection Breakfast. It was a whopping success! Momentum is building for our May 31st Connection Saturday when we will be hosting men's & women's activities. More on that later.

A MOM NEEDS HELP
Shelley Jefsen (and hubby Jay & their 3 small children) are long-time friends of CLC and are moving back to TN from OK. This SAT, MAR 22, at 9am, Shelley needs help loading a full-size U-Haul truck from their storage unit located at StorPlace of Stones River - 310 North Thompson Lane, Murfreesboro, TN 37129.
We need a team to load up the U-Haul and then a team to unload the U-Haul at their home at 111 Platte Drive, Christiana, TN 37037.
This would make a great micro-mission for any coaching group, focus group, or fellowship group. We need all hands on deck! Shelley's husband, Jay, is still working his final days at his old job in OK, so Shelley could really use the church family to lend a helping hand.
If you or your group would be willing to help with the LOAD UP THE U-HAUL portion of the move or the UNLOAD THE U-HAUL at the new house portion of the move, that would be great. I am trying to coordinate this for Shelley, so please email David here if you would be willing to help.

LOCAL HEROES
Chase & Veronica Wilson, the husband & wife team who are both in the Journey, just got water baptized this past Sunday! Woo hoo! In an email interview, Veronica says:
"When I told Chase I wanted to get baptized he said he wanted to do it with me. I thought that was perfect for us. He had already been baptized when he was younger so for him it was more of a re-confirmation. We started the Journey group together and although we still have a long way to go we have both grown so much already, as individuals and as a couple. We feel like getting baptized together not only showed our commitment to God, but it also was a way to symbolize our commitment to continue our walk with God together as a couple and as a family."
VISITING DIGNITARIES
Tonight Pastor Jim will pick up a team of 4 at the airport arriving from their long, long flight from Budapest, Hungary. Istvan, Paul Henderson, Zoli, and Joseph will be our special guests for 2 weeks. They will be taking a closer look at the Journey on this trip. If you recall, Pastor Ron sent me, Jim, Jason Ford, and Dean Luketic to Budapest to the Agape Network of Churches to represent the Journey. Istvan is the apostolic father of this large network of churches.
GRADUATING COACHES
We will be hosting a Victory Breakfast for our DC coaches & interns on MAR 29 to honor them for completing an entire year as Journey coaches. Please throw an "attaboy" or "attagirl" at the following folks next time you see them:
It looks like Grow Series 1 - "Developing the Leader Within You" may be offered next in the Fall Trimester. The Advisory Team will make a final decision this Thursday in our bi-weekly webinar. What this means is that the Journey grads from the above mentioned 4 groups will get to enjoy the summer off and be registered for GS1 in SEP in the Fall Trimester. Coaches: please get final confirmations from your group members in this matter this week please and report it to your coaching captain. We are building a class roster for David & Deanna Fullerton.
H.O.T COMMUNICATION
by Dale Kelsey, DC Men Coaching Captain
Honest, Open and Transparent communication - this should be what we strive for in our discipleship
groups. It’s the very basis of a long lasting, close relationship between two people. All three elements are equally important and absolutely necessary to create that relationship and allow it to grow. This is also the exact kind of relationship our Heavenly Father wishes to have with us!
If we take a look at each of these elements, I think it will be become clearer on what I mean:
Honest – We are talking TRUTH here. Not half truths, not partial truths, but complete truth. John 8:31-32 says,
31
Jesus said to the Jews who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you
remain faithful to my teaching.
32
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will
set you free.” CEB
Jesus tells the Jews three things in these verses. First he tells them to remain faithful in what he has told them. Second he states that if they do remain faithful, they will know the truth. And finally, he tells them that Truth will set them free.
Honesty is the WHAT of a conversation – the words that are actually spoken. Now this doesn’t mean
just rip all the filters off and let everything you think fly out of your mouth. But being honest does mean speaking the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
Open – To be open with someone in conversation defines HOW the conversation is being conveyed
more than the words themselves. If I am speaking openly about a subject then I am laying it all out
there on the table, I’m not keeping anything in. It does NOT mean that I’m doing it in front of everyone or that everyone should know about it! It simply means that what I’m about to say comes from my heart and I’m saying it in Love to make you a better person - to give you freedom.
Jesus, even though he taught in parables, was very open when he spoke. He never pulled any punches and meant every single word that came forth from his mouth. Being open also allows the person to which you are speaking to say their part as well. It’s a two way street with the communication going in both directions.
Transparent – being transparent, much like being open also conveys the manner in which you are
speaking. If something is transparent, you can see through it to what is on the other side. Whatever is transparent still has substance, it’s still a tangible thing, just cannot be seen with the eye.
Transparent conversation means that you can look past the words I am using and see the heart from which they are coming from…the motive if you will. Transparency is very much centered on the WHY of a conversation.

MICRO MISSIONS IDEA
The just-released "Son of God" movie is a great Year of Missions outreach opportunity for all Journey groups. Why not take your group and invite some people who are not in church to go with you? Maybe you could go out for coffee afterwards and have some amazing conversation with people who don't know Jesus.
